25 Things to Pack When Preparing to Evacuate

Plan Ahead With This Check-List

 

In the hustle of packing for an emergency situation many people forget some of the more important things.  Once you leave your home, you will not be allowed to go back until the situation has changed and it is safe to return.

This short list is not complete, but it will help you get started.

  1.  Pets
  2.  Cash
  3.  Important Paperwork – Wills, Insurance paperwork, diplomas, birth certificates, titles, banking information, etc.
  4.  Photos and Art that are not replaceable
  5.  Phone Chargers
  6.  All Prescription Medications
  7.  Hearing Aides and Glasses
  8.  Clothing for 2 weeks
  9.  Toothbrush and toiletries
  10.  CPAP – or any Medical Equipment
  11.  Children’s security items
  12.  Deck of cards – there will be down time and a game of cards is a good distraction,
  13.  Guns and Ammo
  14.  Valuables – Jewelry, Heirlooms, Keepsakes
  15.  Snacks
  16.  Jackets or Sweat-shirts, and Hats and Gloves
  17.  Flashlights and spare batteries
  18.  Water
  19.  First Aid
  20.  Towels
  21.  Toilet Paper
  22.  Working Gloves
  23.  Tool Box
  24.  Sleeping bags
  25.  Camping gear

BONUS ITEM:

Be sure to have a full tank of fuel in the car you have packed. Traffic can back up and it may be a slow drive getting to safety.
